To develop a highly reliable and economical method by analyzing status in quo of the large-scale oil storage tank foundation treatment has becomes the focus of oil storage tank foundation designers in all these years, because he security of oil storage tank is very important. When the tank is built in soft soil ground, pile-supported round slab foundation could be used to improve the reliability of the tank., but this kind of foundation costs high, so it's necessary to do some research to debase the cost. This paper probes into the design methods for pile-supported round slab foundation, and such technology also can be used for reference to build tanks or other constructions.By analyzing the flexural capacity and punching shear capacity, the author works over the design methods of pile-supported round slab. In order to get the minimum thickness of the concrete slab conveniently, the author fetches the formula of the thickness, through the analysis of the punching shear capacity of the slab. And in the design of bending stiffness, the author deduces the equivalent annular linear load method based on shell and plate theory, which especially suits the circular structure and circular load. This method is proved to have better nicety performance than the traditional simplified methods. But it's not precise if the ring-beam method, flabellate-beam method or equivalent annular linear load method was directly used in the tank design just base on the uniform pile-top counterforce. So the author analyzes mechanical principles of the pile-supported round slab, and brings forward a pile-counterforce amplifying coefficient, which improves the veracity and has practical value in the application design. Through ANSYS analysis, equivalent load method is found to be applicability in finite element analysis. This kind of method of finite element analysis is effective and advantageous for round slab and other slab.
