Study On Characteristics And Formation Conditions Of Consolidated Silt

The consolidated silt is found in silty sand coast, river mouth etc., which brings lots of engineering problems, which make it necessary to research on.Based on the overview of correlation study, it discussed the problems, which need to study. According to the analysis on investigation and research data, it summed up the characteristics of consolidated silt regional distribution, the flow and sediment of the region. On the base of the geotechnical test, it studied the characteristics of physical index and mechanics. Acoording to sediment incipient motion test under the flow, it studied the differernce between consolidated silt and the disturbed particle, and built up the consolidated silt incipient velocity formula. In the test of sediment incipient motion under the wave, the sediment is easy to suspend, the sediment-water mixture with high concentration comes into being.The Huanghua port was used as an example to discuss the formation process of consolidated silt. Under the condition of to-and-fro flow, the sediment transported and sorted, then the coarser particles deposited, however, it selected a steady position to form consolidated silt.The formation conditions are the effect of sediment itself and hydrodynamic factors, which is match up each other. Generally, the range of consolidated silt grain size is 0.02~0.5mm.
