With the unceasing development of mechanism design method,the intelligentized degree of mechanism design is much required to be improved. As an important branch of artificial intelligence,the technique of natural language understanding(NLU) has made much progress in recent years , began to expand towards actual and applied fields and had some successful examples.So,the applying of NLU into mechanism design domain is an impersonal requirement of the two subjects in order to improve the intelligentized degree of mechanism design.This paper attempts to actualize the intelligent user requirement analysis in mechanism design with the technique of NLU and convert the understanding results to the requirements or parameters of conceptual design for supporting following design,so it is hoped to better the current circumstance that the prophase intelligentized degree is not high in mechanism design.This paper analysed of the characteristics of natural language in design domain , balanced the advantages and disadvantages of several current methods to syntactic parsing of NLU, analysed the relation between sentence structure composition and semanteme composition.Then,syntactic parsing combined with semantic parsing is chosen as the model to understand restrictive Chinese. Moreover, an actual method based upon the model is implemented.Production Rule and Frame are the main methods to represent knowledge in this model. In the end, the system is applied to requirement analysis system for mechanical product design and the result is famous.
