Concrete is now the most large amount architectural engineering material. The cement water-reducig agent is one of modern concrete essential components. In this paper, naphthalene sulphonate formaldehyde condensate (NaNSF) water-reducing agent is synthesized, and its synthesis techniques are investigated in detail, simultaneously optimum conditions are given. The products are characterized by InfraRed Spectrum and Thin Layer Chromotography and the fluidities of cement pastes are determined. The results indicate that NaNSF synthesized has better performance.Polycarboxylic acid water-reducer (PCA), which is novel, is produced in large scale at abroad, while in our country the study of it still is at the laboratory research stage. As a result of its excellent characteristics such as lower slump loss and higher water-reducing ratio as well as in structure particularity — graft polymer, therefore PCA are synthesized in this article. Reaction conditions are particularly discussed, and proper synthesis conditions are determined. PCA are characterized by end group titration, testing double bond concentration and so on, and the fluidities of cement pastes are tested. The results show that PCA synthesized has excellent dispersing capability.
