This thesis, which is based on investigation and experimental modeling, makes a comprehensive study of the bearing capacity of rock-socketed piles under vertical load , as well as its three influencing factors -socketed depth effect, variation of bedrock strength and thickness of sediments. It brings forward the Duncan non-linear plastic E-B model. The results of the analysis meet that of the experiments quit well, and thus come to the conclusion that the vertical bearing capacity of rock-socketed piles is in power relation with the strength of the bedrock. The results emphasize that the sediment in the pile bed will increase not only the average shaft resistance and the settlement of rock-socketed piles, but also the regional stress of the side rock significantly. The thesis also makes a argument about the calculation method of the vertical bearing capacity of rock-socketed poles in current regulations. The conclusions is this thesis can be used as a reference in research, design and construction.
