The penetrating hydraulic pressure and seepage field of rock slope are some most important factors that affect its stability and deformation. Based on the unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage theory, by case of the discontinuous deformation analysis (DDA), the unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage field and its effect on rock slope of reservoir are studied deeply, when the water level change and rainfalling work on the slope. The paper includes the following contents:1. On the base of basic seepage physics equation, regarding pressure water head as abasic unknown quantity, the unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage differential equation is derived. In addition, the basic conceptions and corresponding condition of saturation-unsaturation seepage problem are demontrate.2. In the foundation of analyzing rainfall seepage mechanism, the finite element method is studied for unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage field. Then by use of Galerkin weighted remaining quantity method, the FEM calculation formulation are given. Moreover, a 3-D finite element calculation program is developed for analying under unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage field, and which is proved by some of exemples.3. Some analysis methods of rock slope stability are discussed, such as limit equilibrium method, limit analysis method, finite element method, discrete element method, DDA ect. Aiming at the discontinuous deformation and large deformation of rock slope, the discontinuous deformation analysis is used, and the modified discontinuous deformation analysis is proposed based on unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage analysis.4. Taking two reservoir rock slopes as the exemples, the variation law of unsaturated seepage field of rock slope is studied, when the reservoir water level falls or rainfalls, and their slope stabilities are discussed. In addition, the influencing mechanism on rock slope of unstable saturated-unsaturated seepage is discussed.
