Nowadays air pollution problem in big cities of China is becoming increa.singly severe. Harmful exhaust emission from vehicles is one of the main factors. With better economic property and less emission of CO2, diesel engine becomes more and more important for the public application; but the other emission components of diesel engine is a sticking point which restricts its use, and the emission-control has been the key point for the diesel engine developing-technology, the most important port is emission after-treat technology.Emission producing mechanism of diesel emission and the impacts on human and environment caused by these substances are discussed firstly, developing a basic knowledge on emission regulations and testing technologies. A few after-treatment technologies of diesel engine are summarized and a simple evaluation system is created.This dissertation mainly focuses on diesel catalytic oxidation converter contriving, it analyzed the diesel engine emission temperature and components property; the mechanism of catalytic oxidation; It also set up a platform for research and development of diesel oxidation catalytic.include: the prescription-selection; catalyst encapsulation; aging test; and how to matching diesel catalytic oxidation converter with original engine. The converter, that we developed with effort, has an average eighty percent converting ratio for CH and CO at all test work-condition of diesel engine, at some point work-condition, its converting ratio goes up to ninety percent, at the same time, the converter decreases PM emission greatly. It has been checked and accepted by the National Department of Science and technology.
