Structure vibration control is an important research field due to its urgent application need in actual engineering structures. Active vibration control has received considerable attention in recent years because of its excellent advantages. And the research of development of the vibration control algorithm is the most important part of the structural active vibration control. This dissertation gives an investigation on active vibration control of a cantilever beam. Firstly, the dissertation discusses the optimal algorithm on how to set up actuators and sensors on the structure to avoid the spillover occurring when using modal control strategy. Secondly, an Independent Modal Space Control (IMSC) strategy is discussed based on the basis of Modal Filter (MF). Simulation results show that the MF can successfully extract modal coordinates from actual physical measurements, and the MF-based IMSC strategy is efficiently fulfilled to control the desired mode. Thirdly, the wave control strategy is discussed. Results demonstrate it is very efficient to absorb vibration energy and vibration in higher frequency span. Finally, a hybrid active vibration control approach is developed by synthesizing the modal control and wave control methods. Simulation results show that the hybrid strategy has an effective and robust broadband vibration attenuation performance.
