Cold air distribution system with ice storage for air conditioning is a new technology to make balance of the electric supply, relax the tension of the energy supply, and reduce the investment and running cost of air-conditioning system, this system has vast developmental outlook. Concerning with some issues of system design, by analyzing design methods, this thesis disclosed that some designer had unclear conception when they designed cold air distribution system with ice storage, and their thoughts were limited to design methods of conventional air-conditioning system, which results in conservative designs which can't represent all the merits of cold air distribution system with ice storage. The study on optimizing design of cold air distribution system with ice storage was done in this thesis, and design methods were established.Calculating cooling load, deciding capacity of refrigerator, choosing apparatus, controlling system and so on for cold air distribution system with ice storage are unlike those for conventional air-conditioning system. The special aspects of design were specified and analyzed in this thesis.This thesis analyzed the factors which influence the system's economy, pointed out that the rate of ice storage and supply air temperature were two important design parameters to system's economy and benefit, and established a series of calculation methods.This thesis illuminated the methods to estimate cold air distribution system with ice storage, discuss the method to calculate optimizing control running cost, give the mathematics model and resolution method, and developed a program for calculation of running cost.Taking an office building in Xi'an as an example, this thesis completed optimizing design of cold air distribution system with ice storage. At last, this thesis discussed some economical problems of the system and traditional one.
