The development status of penstocks is introduced systemically,research fruits and outstanding predominance of steel liner-reinforced concrete penstocks for hydroelectric station are summarized at first. Along with the actualization of The Western Huge Development and The Transmission of Western Electricity to East ,a series of huge or over-huge hydroelectric stations will be built in China.Some are over-huge water level such as Motuo hydroelectric station with 2421m's level ,which will be built on the Yaluzangbu jiang river. If the normal structure style with 3m diameter is used , taking the safety factor of 2 into account, then the thickness of the monolayer liner will be about 240mm, which is much beyond the present skill level.Double steel liner-reinforced concrete penstocks is put forward in order to solve the former question.That is to say,there are double steel liner and reinforced concrete between them.Therefore,no steel liner will be not beyond the present skill level, reinforcing steel bar can take place of partial steel liner .The structure style's mechanical character and destroy mechanism are emphasized in the paper.They primarily include: mathematics simulative of concrete , reinforcing steel bar and liner;stress-strain character and destroy mechanism;the influence of different dispose type for stress and strain;optimization design of elastic and elastic — plastic model;finally, engineering example-Motuo hydroelectric station is analyzed including its straight and protruding curve parts. So,a reasonable penstocks project will be obtained for Motuo hydroelectric station, which can be regarded as a reference for engineering practice.Research method in this paper is that: first, the structure model of double steel liner-reinforced concrete penstocks is built and nonlinear analyzed by software named ANSYS ,which is based on design principle, research fruits, model test and nonlinear analysis fruits of steel liner-reinforced concrete penstocks.Consequently, its optimization design model , stress-strain character and destroy mechanism are acquired.The paper target is that the new structure model of double steel liner-reinforced concrete penstocks discussed can meet the need of particular penstocks structure model with 2500 m water level,on the other hand, it can provide a selective penstocks model for pump water and save energy hydroelectric station.
