The Image Processing Technology In Treatment Planning System Of Gamma Knife

The basic principle of Gamma Knife is to focus the high energy rays to the target spot and destroy it. It's name comes from the fact that Gamma Knife has the effect of a knife when being put into clinical use. To be the software of Gamma Knife, Treatment Planning System (TPS) helps doctor to make treatment plan, predicts the clinical result to ensure the security of radiotherapy.As an important part of Gamma Knife TPS, image processing module reads, matches and sorts the original pictures. Then it exracts the contour and construct section images at any angle to get 3-D simulant body for doctor laying out treatment plan. According to the existing image processing technology , the author studies and improves several key issues of image processing module.According to the specialties and demands of medical images, the author improves the image enhancing method based on CT window technology to enhance the required image area much better. A algorithm is also studied to auto-collect mark points based on mathematical morphology.To improve the disadvantage in existing contour recognition method, a new contour recognition algorithm is introduced in this thesis. This method is to close in upon the optimizing contour on the basis of the initial contour. Besides the differential information of the image gray level, the global feature of the image contour is introduced to the process of edge recognition in this method so that it can not only ensure the high precision of edge location,but also reduce the effect of noise to some extent. To provide the 3-D reconstruction with texture data, the author studies and realizes a method to get section images at any angle. This method also establishes a strong base for the tissue reconstruction in the future.
