With the developing of science and technology, engineering structure has been trending toward complication and giantism. For assuring reliability, it is very important to study vibration problem. In this paper, the vibration problem of the shafting of hydraulic turbine is studied by the Finite Element Method, and which is a branch of the fault diagnosis system for hydraulic turbine on hydrodynamic vibration. The result of calculating will be used to analyze the vibration problem in the system.The paper firstly expounds the correlative theory about vibration. And combining the design feature and work environment of the shafting, the vibration characteristic of the shafting is analyzed. The finite element method and its solution procedure and the finite element software I-DEAS are introduced. And according to above of those, the calculating method and process are confirmed.And then with the finite element software I-DEAS, the nature frequency and the vibration mode of the runner, turbine shaft, motor shaft, generator unit stator and assembly shafting of hydraulic turbine are calculated. And according to the calculating result, analyzing the feasibility of inducing sympathetic vibration and summarizing the rule of the vibration mode.The vibration problem of the hydraulic turbine is summarized, analyzing vibration reasons and characteristics about mechanism, electric and hydrodynamic vibration. The frame of the hydroelectric units fault diagnosis system is introduced about composition. And the implementation of sympathetic vibration identify is discussed in detail, including the rationale of sympathetic vibration identify, the method of getting exciting force frequency and the procedure of the implementation of sympathetic vibration identify.
