High-strength stainless wire mesh with permeability polymer mortar, invented by a Korean corporation, is a new kind of material which has such advantages as high strength, good resistance to corrosion, thermal stability. Tsinghua University has processed a series of experiments, and found the rehabilitation has increased the beam's capability of bending and shearing effectively. Based on the experiments, this material has been used in the rehabilitation of structure and bridge. The effect of high-strength stainless wire mesh used in seismic rehabilitation of concrete column is studied. In order to study the effect of the axial load ratio and the quantity of wire mesh, eight columns are designed with the principle of stronger shear-weak flexure. They are divided into two groups with different axial load ratio. In each group, there is a column which is not strengthened and others are strengthened with different quantity of wire mesh. Based on the experimental results, the resistant capacity and rigidity of column are studied. Some seismic criterions such as the ductility factor, the amount of hysteresis energy dissipation, the hysteresis energy dissipation index are analyzed. The formula used to calculate the ductility factor of the strengthened column is proposed on the existing formula. The curve is simulated with the takeda degrading model. As a result, the high-strength stainless wire mesh can confine the concrete and avoid the buckling of the steel bar. And the rehabilitation can improve the ductility factor and the amount of hysteresis energy dissipation. This material can usefully improve the seismic capability of the RC column.Compare is made between this material and other rehabilitative methods and some suggests are proposed on the research and design in the future.
