Short reinforced concrete column is an inevitable vertical load-bearing member in the process of concrete structure design. Under the horizontal loading, the short column shows obvious brittle shear failure, and brings great difficulty to structure repair after the earthquake because it can not absorb enough energy under earthquake action. Therefore, it has an important theoretical meaning for enhancing the seismic performance of structure to improve the the deformation capacity and brittle shear failure mode of short reinforced concrete columns, especially to high strength concrete short column.High Ductile Fiber Reinforced Concrete(HDC) has many great performances, such as high ductility, highly-damage tolerance, tensile-strain hardening, and multiple cracking. So, the HDC can significantly improve the seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures, and the deformability and the brittle shear failure mode of reinforced concrete short columns, especially for high-strength concrete short column. It also has great significance in controlling the damage degree of structures under earthquake.In this paper, HDC short column is taken as research object, two shape stell HDC short columns and twelve HDC short columns were made to study the effect of putting formed stell in core region and under high axial load ratio on their seismic performance. And one reinforced concrete(RC) short column was conducted as a comparison specimen. Under low cycle reversed loading, their shear failure process and pattern was studied. The hysteresis characteristic, shear capacity, deformability and energy dissipation capacity of each specimen are studied. Based on the modified compression field theory, the theoretical formula to calculate the shear-bond capacity of HDC short column was presented. By analyzing the influences of each factor to the shear behavior of HDC short column, a simplified calculation formula to calculate the shear capacity of HDC short column was presented through linearregression.
