The grounding capacitance current is increasing along with the expansionof power grid, thus the grounding faults increasing notably and grounding arccan't be self-extinguished, which makes the situation worse. But those gridwith arc-suppression coil can compensate the grounding capacitance currentand reduce the residual ground current, as well as lessen the probability offault from single-phase to interphase or polyphase and hence enhances thesafety and reliability of the power network. Base on the concept of compensation using thyristor series capacitor, anovel kind of arc-suppression coil is proposed. Compared with the existingpre-tuning arc-suppression coil, this neotype has wider adjustable range, morerapid reaction speed, better linearity of C-V characteristic and less harmonicdisturbance. In this article, a detailed analysis is imposed on the network which usesarc-suppression coil firstly, particularizes the equivalent circuit, voltage vectordiagram, calculation of parameter and structural design of this new equipment.And then the control principle is settled and from this, hardware diagram andsoftware flowchart is achieved. Finally, the control unit is designed andmanufactured. Parts of the unit are introduced in detail in this article and someresults of experiments are given as well. Theory analysis and experiments proved that the application of thisneotype equipment has a good prospect in improving the safety and reliabilityof the power distribution system, and also the economic benefits to the society.
