Fractionating tower is a kind of equipment made for the fractionation of the petrochemical derivative.it has to take the method to deter the temperature transmission, Because its working temperature is below sub-zero 1000.The FON fractionating tower series ,which evolve into three types-the big,the medium and the small,is a kind of device made for air fractionation.The different type of towers are enclosed and supported by steel construction(Cold insulation box),and then the pearl is filled between the interspace of the tower and construction to close off the temperature transmission.Cold insulation box has the system of frame construction with periphery armor plate .It has the big ratio of depth to width and also has the irregular fa?ade,what are devised to suit to the process flow .After many years of application,the design of the construction has been finalized and little analysis is made for it .But with the requirement of marketing,we need to design specially according to the condition and requirement of the user .At the initial analysis of the series construction,we found that the effect of pearl to box is not agreed with fact when the effect is considered in soil mechanics .So it is the fist step to research the fuction of the pearl.First,the mechanism how the pearl operates on the cold insulation box is not clear.Second,the general problem existing in this kind of construction is how to consider the second-order effect of the structure in design. Finding the method to solving the above two problem is the main purpose of this paper.Firstly refering to silo design, taking the suitable assumption for the fuction of the pearl,the paper deduces the fuction form of the pearl loading.And widely discusses the using area of the pearl loading. Secondly,the second-order effect on high and narrow frame which bears gravity load can not be neglected. Having made clear the function mechanism of the pearl and considered the effect of the shearing distortion, according to the finite element theory, the paper make an accurate second-order analysis on the construction by making use of the non-line function in ANSYS. At last,the paper provides the logical suggestion for the analysis of the congeneric construction,which might be the useful reference for the analysis and design of pearl structure.
