The frame with semi-rigid connections means that the joints of the frame adopt semi-rigid joints. This conception can avoid the large difference of the theory and practice, the structure's insecurity or conservation in the traditional steel frame analysis, which assumed that the behavior of the beam-to-column connections is either pinned or rigid joints entity. However the 'rigid joint' of the welded steel frame in the Northridge earthquake occurred to a large quantity of brittle breakage. This cause the engineers pay more attention to the frame with semi-rigid connections which has good dynamic performance. In this thesis a two-dimension nonlinear finite element program for steel frame with semi-rigid connections compiled successfully. This program considered connection geometrical nonlinear and the influence of the shearing deformation. The two kinds of frame with different joints are contrasted in the calculation. Another program was compiled for seismic time-history analysis of the two kinds of the steel frame.
