Laboratory Test And Research On The Settlement Of Soft Foundation Under Low Embankment Considering The Influence Of Traffic Load

Because of the problem brought by high embankment, about fabrication cost, settlement after construction , floor area and environment etc , some region (such: Shang-Hai , JiangSu province etc. ) has adopted project of low embankment to construct speedway . As far as speedway on the soft foundation concerned, the potential settlement after construction would have many hazard to transport and communication trade. Thus, it is necessary to accurately forecast the settlement after construction of embankment constructed on the soft foundation, if the forecast settlement and the practicable settlement is very approach , it would be propitious to maintain in the after today . So, study and discuss problem consist in low embankment speedway on soft foundation, and set up method to forecast and calculate settlement after construction , it would have many practical meaning to develop road construction in our country .In this paper, mechanism of action between traffic load and soft foundation is first discussed. And based on the indoor test, deformation character of soft clay on the condition of drain , on the action of traffic load. After, the settlement law of low embankment on the action of traffic load is found, and some problems owing to height of embankment being debased is also clarified, based on the examination and observation. In the same time, the formula of calculation and method of forecast about the settlement after construction of low embankment on action of traffic load are found. Some treating measures adapt to low embankment are also put forward.The specific properties of settlement, calculating method and how to treat correspond problem have been studied systematically, thus providing theoretical basis and reference for design and construction low embankment on the soft foundation.
