In recent decade years, with the development of the numerical simulation technology, the application domain of it is becoming broader and broader. Now the numerical simulation technology is accepted and regarded as a kind of fundamental means for the research in flow fields. The paper is around complicated district turbulent flow. Numerical simulation of flow field in a complex spillway tunnel is achieved in the paper. The concrete work includes:(1) Turbulent models are reviewed briefly. In view of hydraulics characteristics, standard two equations k-E model is adopted. Governing equations for three-dimensional turbulent flow are set up in general coordinates.(2) Unstructured grid generation is adopted in complicated geometry. According to the water current characteristics of the spillway tunnel, its grid is generated.(3) Finite volume method is used to discrete the governing equations.Pressure correction equations are deduced. Multi-grid methods and Gauss-Seidel methods are adopted to obtain the solution of the equations.(4) Numerical simulation of Jiudianxia spillway tunnel is performed and the results are analyzed by being compared with the experimental observations.(5) Problems are ascertained in original design, and an improved design is put forward.
