Three dimension and turbulent are common characteristic of sluice structures and added free surface for the best familiar spillway tunnel. In view of the curved free surface, complicated boundary, it's very difficult to simulate the flow of spillway tunnel. As one of the main flood discharge buildings, spillway tunnel is used in the large and middle scale hydro-project, spillway tunnel take the model experiment to validate the security of the project frequently. A comprehensive review and expectation about researching status and development trends of spillway tunnel are given in this paper. Numerical simulation is one of effective methods to study spillway tunnel and important technical methods to study high speed flow. On the right boundary condition, reasonable grid and appropriate math model the numerical simulation can reflect the slow characteristic of the object. This paper use FLUENT software calculated the three dimensional numerical analysis of San Dao Wan hydro-power station spillway.Based from Navier-Stokes equations, Finite Volume Method is applied in numerical modeling of the flow in no-pressure tunnel of high water reservoir in this paper. I select standard k -εturbulence modeling that put forward by Launder and Spalding in 1972 by weighted poly-turbulence modeling. The volume of fluid (VOF) method is combined with the geometry reconstruction scheme to solve the free surface. Staggered grid system is used in derivation of discrete equations and Alternating Direction Implicit is applied in equations' calculation in the paper. In order to ensure stability and accuracy of numerical calculation, I adopt Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations that is very popular so far. We can get overall experiment' data in the model test. The 3D turbulent model that can simulate the 3-D flow of pressure part and free-flow spillway tunnel is established in the paper. Discharge capacity part, distribution of velocity and pressure are obtained by simulation. The numerical simulation results are compared with test results, and they are agreed well with each other.The 3D turbulent model established in the paper is comparatively well and truly simulates 3D flow in spillway tunnel. It will supply reliable analysis data for design of spillway tunnel.
