In this paper, the author makes research on the new type GUSA continuously variable transmission (CVT), which includes the analysis of kinematical characteristics, the automatic speed variation and the causes that lower the efficiency and improvement of the mechanism of the machine.The main task in this paper is as follows: Firstly, the software Matlab is used to analyses kinematical characteristics of the new type GUSA CVT, The speed variation function is decided by means of polynomial fitting. Secondly, based on that function, a servo system is designed to realize automatic speed adjust and control of this CVT, and also, an application is developed by the programming tools Visual C++ for users to control the machine. Thirdly, analyze the causes that lower the efficiency of the CVT, and then improve the mechanism, which is an effective way to increase the efficiency of the CVT.The author use different arithmetic in the program to build the mathematical model of the CVT, and the speed variation function is precise enough for the control. The paper provides a feasible scheme for the automatic speed variation of the GUSA CVT.
