The simulation system of ship resistance combined computer technology, multimedia technology and simulation technology with the related knowledge of ship theory, developed multimedia simulation system which is suitable to science research and assistant teaching. This system consisted of data acquisition, simulation test, real-ship forecast, test technology, famous tank and video material. The data acquisition system simulated the function of data acquisition that ship model tank did. The simulation test system estimated the real-ship resistance, ship resistance estimation is an important content to determine its speed, and analyze the quality during the early stage. This simulation system mainly estimated the ship resistance with Ayre method and navy constant method, then compare the result with ship model test. The real-ship forecast mainly computed the value with Froude's method and (1+k) method.Test technology, famous tank and video material system mainly introduced knowledge of ship model test.The ship resistance simulation system mainly used Visual C++ and authorware development tools, used Visual Basic, Flash and 3D Max for it's assistant, developed good function multimedia simulation system.Based on these conditions, the article used computer technology to ship resistance simulation, and do the following work:(1) Using Authorware development tools and interface technology to build ship resistance simulation system with ATL and ActiveX control.(2) Using Visual C++ to develop OpenGL library with object-oriented method to build simulation environment.(3) Using texture mapping technology to build the simulation environment of towing tank.(4) Using particle technology to simulate the sternward spray.(5) Using 3D Max to design the ship model and convert it to 3DS file format, then using Visual C++ interface program technology to call the 3DS file to the system.(6) Comparing the simulation result with ship model test result.
