In this thesis, a numerical simulation method for prediction of the inlet flow field and water droplet impingement performance which acts an important role in the anti-icing system design of a aircraft engine inlet is evaluated using multi-block techniques. In the first, a basal idea of multi-block method is introduced, a collocated structured grid technique is presented, and a SIMPLER algorithm is derived on this grid. Secondly, based on the analysis of turbulent flow and heat transfer in the complex geometrical domain, the grid generation technique, difference scheme of convective and diffusive terms, turbulent models, and Eulerian model for airflow field computation containing water droplet, which are used in single child domain, as well as the techniques for transferring and correction information from one computational zone to another suitable for the problem, are determined. A two-dimensional C program for numerical simulation of a 2-D lid-driven cavity flow and a 2-D half circular cylinder in cross flow is developed. The results are compared with the accepted benchmark solutions and the experimental ones to ensure the feasibility of the multi-block computation method and reliability of the program. The calculation results and analysis of the engine inlet flow field and water droplet impingement performance with the given flight state and icing condition are evaluated.
