In winter and early spring, it is common to catch transmission line icing accident. The break of transmission line and even the damage of electric power tower are caused when critical icing happen. Transmission line icing exists worldwide. Transmission line icing accidents are disasters of electricity safety, and heavy economic losses are caused by transmission line icing accidents. All over the world, high attention is paid on the transmission line icing. Double bundle conductor is widely used on220KV and330KV power transmitting in china, thus it is very important to study the double bundle conductor icing phenomenon.In this paper, a research of numerical simulation on the double bundle conductor is carried out from the principle of transmission icing. Because the water droplet impingement takes place at the beginning of the transmission line icing, and the transmission line icing and water droplet impingement coefficient on the surface of double bundle conductor have a proportional relationship, this numerical simulation can provide certain reference to the transmission line icing. The steps of the numerical simulation are as follows:(1) Double bundle conductor model is established in two dimensions, and the mesh is performed.(2) The track of water droplet is calculated.(3) The definition of the water droplet impingement coefficient on bundle conductor is carried out and the water droplet impingement coefficient on double bundle conductor is calculated.(4) The values of water droplet impingement coefficient are analyzed and the relationships between parameters and water droplet impingement coefficient are examined. The relationships between the water droplet impingement coefficient and the four physics characteristic, which are double bundle conductor spacing, the environment wind speed, the environment water diameter, and the transmission line diameter, are got by the numerical simulation.In a word, the research is closely around the transmission line icing problems in this paper. The research of preventing transmission line icing is carried out from the perspective of the transmission icing principle. This research can provide a reference to the preventing and monitoring of transmission line icing.
