The Design Of Outdoor Public Space Of Inhabited Area Based On Behavior Investigation

It has been a significant task to investigate inhabited environment for quite a long time. This thesis proceeds with behavior characteristics of the inhabitants, probing into how to construct an energetic open air of an inhabited area mainly from the programming point of view. The principal part of this thesis puts up analyses and investigations on how to employ the public space of an inhabited area, as well as how to encourage the use of outdoor space for daily life and community activities. It also discusses the special requests for physical environment raised by day-to-day social life. To make an attempt, some efficient approaches to create outdoor space full of energy and the milk of human kindness are advised.The thesis makes up of six parts. The first part explains why to select this topic as well as the concepts mentioned afterwards in the thesis. The second part recommend the trends of evolution and design in terms of the inhabited environment history. The third part analyzes and investigates the main theoretic basis of this thesis-Action Space Theorem(AST). The fourth part investigates the outdoor space of an inhabited area. The way to design outdoor environment of an inhabited area by AST is also considered in this part. The fifth part brings forward countermeasures for some provided spaces. Some cases are picked out to explain how they echoes to the main viewpoints of this thesis. The last part is divided into epilogue and expectation.The main conclusions drawn by this thesis are: vivid inhabited environment consists of the daily activities and sensations of the inhabitants. There will be of no help no matter how colorful the constructions are and how the figures change, if any necessary contents of life are absent. If only a designer can penetrates into the behavioral psychological characteristics of inhabitants, a reasonable plan for outdoor space of a inhabited area which can create feasible conditions for outdoor life will be easily carried out. As a result, not only those essential needs of inhabitants are satisfied, but also rich and colorful inhabited life is offered.
