An Analytical Solution Method Of Computing The Single Pile Load-Sedimentation

During the pile foundation design, the pile's bearing ability and sedimentation property are the important indices that should be first determined. Although the pile foundation is now most widely used at home or aboard, the pile-soil system is a very complex mechanical system and its engineering design method is still in a semi-theory and semi-experience state up to now. To reflect the main work mechanism of the pile-soil system without complex computing-analysis method, many engineering technicians and researchers have paid attention to the study of the properties of the pile's load transferring function. According to the applied load transferring function, the pile's load-sedimentation curve can be got by some simple mathematical operation, thus, the mechanical performance of a single pile and a group of piles can be analyzed.In this paper, the author analyzed and summarized the load transferring mechanism of a single pile, deeply and carefully explained all the aspects of the properties of the resistance on the sides and end of the pile, summarized the load transferring course and law of the pile-soil system under vertical load, listed the load-sedimentation (P~S) curve often used in the engineering practice.In the paper, the author deeply introduced the various methods of computing the single-pile sedimentation, analyzed the load transferring function in detail and summarized some pile-body and pile-end load transferring function put forward by some domestic and overseas scholars. Besides, the author analyzed and compared some main methods of computing the single-pile sedimentation.On the basis of analysis and research of tremendous domestic and overseas data, proper hyperbola model was established to reflect the load transferring condition of pile-body and pile-end, and the load-sedimentation analytical solution under the conditionof single layer foundation was deduced, and then was applied to the multi-layer foundation. Hyperbola model and the load-sedimentation analytical solution will offer a new method of calculating single pile sedimentation in the future. Some laws were deduced from the analysis and research of an engineering project.
