Currently, Steel-RC hybrid wall system is widely used in high-rise buildings in our country, for it carries both the merits of steel structure and concrete structure. But there are two main controversies on the seismic performance of this structure system: whether it is a dual seismic resistant system or not; how to adjust the seismic shear force carried by the steel frame. It is necessary to further investigate the seismic behavior of the structure for most parts of our country are in seismic zone.A one-tenth scale model of a 12-storey Steel-RC hybrid wall system was tested on the shaking table to investigate the seismic performance of the system, including: the natural periods, the damping ratios; the floor accelerations, the floor shifts, the storey shifts; the strain responses; the cracking of the concrete tubes. The test shows that the steel frame can function as the second seismic resistant system, and the Steel-RC hybrid wall system model can resist the rarely expected earthquake and would not collapsed, showing perfect seismic behavior.Applying the strain analysis method and the floor shifts analysis method, based on test data, the paper concentrates on the study of the carrying seismic shear force ratio between the steel frame and the RC tube under several levels of earthquakes, and gets some useful conclusions, including: the comparision among the floor shear forces of the steel frame, the RC tube and the whole structure under several levels of earthquakes; the trend of the floor shear forces of the steel frame under frequently occurring earthquake, moderate earthquake , rarely expected earthquake; the trend of the ratios between the seismic shear forces of every floor steel frame and steel frame with the maximum floor seismic shear force; the trend of the carrying shear force ratios of the floor with the maximum steel frame shear force under several levels of earthquakes.The paper investigates on the two main doubts on the seismic performance of steel-RC hybrid wall system through a shaking table test, and gets some useful conclusions. At the end, the paper gives some design suggestions and shows the fields of future research.
