There are mainly additional reinforced concrete structural columns、reinforced concrete ring beams、steel rods etc about masonry seismic strengthening methods in the current code in china. These methods are accepted、economy and rational. But there are inadequacies. The most important defects have three respects. Firstly, wet working is more that lead to the time of work turn to longer; Secondly, these methods damage the use of the building features. For example, added columns cause facade of buildings to change or bulge the original construction that affect the use of buildings. Lever beams affect visual effects. The Strengthening of using Reinforced concrete wall reduce the useful area of buildings and so on. Thirdly, penetrating floors and Smashing wall are more, which damage the original structure. To compensate for these shortcomings, this paper put forward using steel composite wall、 Composite Columns of steel palate and component constructional column of steel plate etc to strengthen masonry buildings. Through the shaking table test of the without-strengthening scaled model and the strengthening scaled model to prove the strengthening method is safety and reliable.Based on the experimental Phenomenon of the without-strengthening scaled model to make the evalution of Seismic capacity of the original structure; Without-strengthening scaled model meets to the basic requirements of7degrees.Based on the experimental phenomenon of the strengthening scaled model to summary of aseismic weak points for the reinforcement method. Strengthening scaled model meets to the basic requirements of8degrees. To strengthen those weak points in the later seismic strengthening designs. It can provide new ideas for seismic strengthening design.
