The author select saturated structural K0-consolidated loess as the object of the paper.Lots of tests are carried out for saturated structural K0-consolidated loess in the confined compression apparatus and the routine triaxial apparatus,the same study is conducted parallely on remoulded soil for comparision.The characteristics of deformation and strength of saturated structural K0-consolidated loess are obtained by analyzing the result of the texts, especially by comparing with the deformation and strength of saturated remoulded loess.With the consideration of the soil mechanics approach on the study of structural loess, regardingsaturated structural K0-consolidated loess as the object of the paper and considerating the initialanisotropy of soil, variation characteristics of soil struture are studied under different tests conditions when arrangement is the main factor, and the principal correlation fators influencing the loess structure are analyzed.In previous geomaterial constitutive models,the influence of soil structure which is the essential intrinsic factor has less been into account.Based on the Cam Clay model and classical elastoplastic theory,according to the result of tests,the saturated structured Cam Clay model which considers the influence of soil structure is proposed in this paper.The new model can be used to satruated structural K0 normally consolidated soils. We can describe the main mechanical behaviours of saturated structural K0-consolidated loess well by the model.We can describe initial anisotropy by hardening differently, describe the structure of saturated structural K0-consolidated loess,and describe the dilatancy.The proposed model realizes the consistency from the shear yield to the shear failure for saturated K0-consolidated loess, the new model is identical to the Modified Cam Clay soil model if a soil has no structure or if its structure is removed by loading.The parameters are easy to obtain and to be usedwidely.Comparisons with experimental data from drained and undrained shear tests on K0 normally consolidated clay show that the proposed model gives excellent predictions,therefore,the model is more realistis in predicting the deformation and strengh of soils.
