It is promoted rapidly since technique of Rolled Compacted Concrete was used on dam construction. From gravity dam to arch dam, both of them appear vivid energy. RCC differs from general concrete in many ways, such as temperature characteristic, material characteristic, construction and so on. At first we study thermal stress of RCC as general concrete wrongly and now we have got basic right acknowledgement. For this, many RCC dam were built and run safely. Thermal stress is the main cause of cracks of concrete arch dam, now the engineers have got abundant results in thermal stress, temperature-control and joints design. Whereas the complexity of structure of arch dam, we always feel around cautiously in the way of study on RCC arch dam.In this paper, we study the following problems mainly cooperated Wanjiakouzi RCC arch dam which will be built in Yunnan province.1. We shall first fix the temperature filed and thermal stress field of jointless dam in construction period through simulation calculating. According to calculation result, we can design the reasonable temperature control scheme and jointing mode.2. We shall prose temperature-control scheme for Wanjiakouzi RCC archdam. The underpart concrete had better constructed in low temperature season and measure of heat preservation and cooling by water should be carried out. Top concrete can be constructed in high temperature season. It had better constructed at night and lowered temperature of mixed concrete and cooled by water.3. We shall carry out simulating calculation for arch dam including transverse joints which contact element will be adopted. Making analyse for influence of transverse joints of vary location and quantity and putting forward reasonable joints dividing scheme for reference of design.4. Debating for transverse-joint and induce-joint and indicating their advantages and disadvantages and individual applying range. We put forward some assumes for joints dividing and hope they can be verified in project.5. Optimization studying for shape of arch dam was carried out. The optimization of goal for stress and goal for volume are studied individually. The optimization shape of improving stress distributing at lowest volume was found.
