As for hight arch dam, the technique of construction is complex, it is difficult to continuously raised many layers, the building structure condition of construction and operation is very complex during construction period, and is directly related to hydrogeologist condition in its position.Thermal stress is important in whole dam stress distribution; especially the thermal stress in whole pouring block or long block is the main factor of inducing slit and even endangering dam safety. It is influence arch dam particularly.Correctly finding out the thermal stress developing process and distributing regularity of arch dam is very meaningful to lay down appropriate temperature control criterion, to take corresponding slit prevention measures and to correctly direct concrete constructing . Therefore the thermal and stress field simulation become to an important research subject.Goupitan arch dam is the higher arch dam in construction of the world at present. In this paper, by use of ANSYS software, some condition of dam construction is in whole process simulated as follows: concrete construction, mould of setting and removing, concrete maintenance, variety of surroundings and climate, heat refrigeration and preservation by manual means, flood discharging in construction process, transverse gap grouting, Reservoir storage, material property of calorific and mechanics varied with the time, etc, and the procedure of simulation is provided; By use of the 3D finite-element calculating and analyzing temperature and stress field of dam through construction to operation periods.As a result, a character and rule in whole process of high arch dam temperature field is given and studied, which offers reference for actual project design and construction. In the end, after analyzing temperature control and slit data of high arch dam constructed in the world, according to sort of concrete dam slit and reason of it produces, the paper discuss temperature control criterion, some common temperature stress control and slit prevention measures at present are put forward.
