In this paper, methods about combustion and formation of NOx in utility boiler are described and analysised comprehensively ,then have a numerical simulation of the tangentially-fired furnace of a 300 MW pulverized coal boiler of Shiheng power plant with CFD software, and acquire different flow field,temperature field,component field in different conditions. On this basis, acquire formation and distribution of NOx. Through the further analysis with the above results, acquire the scale of fuel-NOx,thermal-NOx in the total, the relation of NOx formation and temperature field,component field , the changing of NOx formation with load, the effectiveness for the reduce of NOx emission by the way of staged combustion with over fire air.
