Working mechanism and influence factor to swirl burner have carried on theory analysis and experimental study in this paper. In order to enhance the steady-state combustion performance of burner, the burner was redesigned and reconstructed. Design central coal feeding swirl burner and carry on laboratory test while being cool, on-the-spot air power field test and test while being hot. Experience for aerodynamic characteristics in cold state and thermal state shows that the central coal feeding swirl burner can provide good aerodynamic property of the boiler. The boiler can operate stably in high load and part load. Economic benefit of the reconstruction is marked. The operation accident of coking and slagging didn't occur after transforming.
