The steel structures are widely used in modem building structures due to its advantage properties such as high strength, light weight ,strong toughness,short construction period and so on. However, the poor fire-resistance is the vital weakness of the steel structures.Take its yield strength as an example, when the temperature is up to 400℃, the yield strength would down to be half as at the normal temperature, even would lose the most of part when the temperature up to 600℃. Therefore, it would play a very important role in the theory and practice to study the problem of fire resistance and fire protection of the steel structures.In this paper, based on fire resistance design methods of the steel member, the temperature stress of tapered steel member subjected to fire has been analyzed by applying the finite element method.
