Since the early 90s of the last century, the use of steel structure has been developing in an unprecedented rate. As a matter of fact, steel structure has been extensively used in various construction projects in our country. The use of steel structure is still flourishing in the whole construction industry. Among various steel structures, I-steel beam (H-steel beam) is the most widely used as the main structure of almost all engineering works. For this reason, the optimal use of I-steel beams is considered as one of the effective ways of saving raw materials and reducing the capital input costs for engineering works. On the other hand, computerized optimal design has proven to be a high efficient and fast design method. Based on these two points, this research has selected the optimal structural design of I-steel beam sections as the way to study the optimal design of steel structures. This research studied various types of I-steel beams, and looked into the rational sectional parameter designs of various I-steel beams for different carrying loads as well as their maximum bending moment design. It provides engineering designers with a quick and high efficient design method, which can raise their work efficiency. The main research work includes the following:1. This research considered structural stability (whole and segment stability), strength (bending and shearing strength), rigidity, and structural and space beauty as parameters for optimal design for I-steel beams, and based on them put forward a computer calculation algorithm for optimal I-steel beam design.2. This research studied optimal section and bending moment design for the double symmetric I-steel short beams (1-5m) and long beams (5-10m);3. It also studied optimal section and bending moment design for the single...
