Preface Highway construction accelerated the progress of vehicle transportation dramatically. As a main facility, commercial truck is developing aimed at heavy loading, high speed, more comfortable, and luxury. In order to adapt the requirement of domestic heavy-duty trucks'long distance transport, truck manufacturers must try to improve the comfort performance of their truck cab. Comfort is a main performance index for modern vehicle. There are two factors that cause vehicle vibration, one is the road irregularities random exciting while running; another is the vibration exciting brought by engine assembly while working. In regard to the causations of vibration and its transfer routes, researchers have made great efforts to reduce as much as possible the impact of vibration on smoothness and comfort performance of a vehicle. Cab mount system acts an important role in isolating the shocks that transferred to cab from chassis. Therefore, to enhance the isolation ability of cab mount is a sufficient means for improving the comfort performance of cab when vibrating. At the present time, most of European, American, Japanese and Korean heavy-duty trucks have adopted more advanced cab suspension system. This kind of system represents an evolution trend whereas there are different structures and types. How to superiorly arrange the parameter of the mount system so that vibration spreading from frame to cab can be availably isolated has become an important task of the vehicle design. In this paper, based on a lot of references about the cab mount system, vibration isolation of cab mount system has been deeply studied. Main content This study is related to one of FAW's presently manufactured heavy-duty trucks. Based on references of concerned technical literatures and other domestic and foreign congener vehicle products, the Virtual prototype model of cab suspension system has been developed in ADAMS. Further, by DOE (Design of Experiments), we have applied the optimization of mount parameter. Comfort performance of the cab was proved been promoted. The main content as follows: 1. Started with the main influence factors to vibrant comfort performance of a heavy-duty truck, the function of cab mount system at isolating vibration in its transfer routes was analyzed. Then, the structures and characteristics of different cab mount types were compared, and the evaluation method of system performance was also brought out. 2. Have discussed the theoretical foundation of ADAMS software and its application in the artificial respect of dynamics in detail, have understood the realization of the technology of virtual prototype in ADAMS. 3. Detailed introduction set up the simulating model of the cab mount, go on course that prove to model among ADAMS. 4. By the means of DOE finally, optimized the parameter of mount system under ADAMS/Insight module. Conclusion The study team has simulated and optimized the cab mount system, makes a great improvement in vibrant comfort of certain heavy-duty truck.
