Evaporation-cooling is a kind of new cooling technique with high efficiency and safety, which can be applied to the horizontal motor. But a lot of problems need to be solved. The hydrodynamics and heat transfer theory related to the evaporation-cooling are very complex. A series of experiments should be made to find out various parameters adapted to different working conditions. This paper studies the effect of noncondensable gases on the heat transfer performance of single horizontal smooth tube. The experimental results are used to amend heat transfer model and calculation formulas which proved to be correct by applying to a group of smooth tubes. The paper mainly researched on the condensation heat transfer characteristics of different condensation tubes (smooth tubes and thread tubes) and different coolant (CFC-113 and Vertrel XF). The experimental data were analyzed and comparisons between each other were performed. The results show that thread tube can enhance condensation heat transfer and Vertrel XF is a good CFC alternative if only considering heat transfer performance. In order to perfect evaporation-cooling technology, this paper studies the cooling capacity of motor's condensing system and correlative experiments are made on the model of an evaporation-cooling asynchronous turbo generator. Considering the safety of motor, the experiment on the break of stator's cylinder sleeve was conducted. The reliability of condensing system was discussed.
