Concurrent engineering (CE) is proved to be the method that can help improve and reengineer the product development process, reduce the cost and cycle of the product development effectively, and improve the quality of product design. In order to take account of all the requirements of every phase of the product lifecycle at the beginning, the process must be partitioned and analyzed, and the process model must be set up, analyzed and optimized.On the foundation of the research of CE, product development process, method for process analysis, process optimization and design reuse, this dissertation is focused on the method for the process analysis and process optimization of concurrent product development and the general flow of the process analysis and optimization is depicted. The modeling method of the integration of the workflow model and the design structure matrix (DSM) is applied, four modeling fashions are concluded and the reflection between process model and DSM, multi-views model and DSM and the hierarchy model and DSM is discussed in detail. The basic manipulation of DSM is applied in process analysis and planning of concurrent product development. The genetic algorithm is used to solve the multi-objective optimization and constrained optimization in process. The genetic operator such as selection operator, crossover operator and mutation operator etc., is designed and the algorithm flow is developed. The execution and supervising of the process based on design history management, especially the mechanism and logic of the process execution, is discussed. The process reuse method based on case-based reasoning is presented; the method of domain knowledge dictionary is applied in case search and the expressing, retrieving and matching of the case are mainly discussed. The framework of process analysis and process optimization of the concurrent product development is set up and the prototype system is developed.
