Energy source and environment have become an urgent problem for every country all over the world. The utilization of clean and reproducible energy becomes the important task for us especially. Heat pump is just the one we need, does well in energy saving, it's cleanness and no pollution. So it develops swiftly and violently in recent years. Ground source heat pump which utilizes shallow layer geothermal source is a kind of heating and air conditioning instrument for constructions. This technology is obtaining more and more attention of government, due to its characteristics of energy saving and environment protection, and it meets the people's demand to archive the harmoniousness between individual's living and their environment in terms of its great advantage of energy saving and environment protection. By using this technology, the aim of saving energy and improving efficiency of energy using can be achieved. But all this depend on the steady, safe and highly efficient running of ground source heat pump unit. Besides rational design of heat pump system, the control of equipment running and the protection to all components is a necessary condition which insures the steady, safe and highly efficient running of ground source heat pump unit. In this paper, firstly, by analyzing the ground source heat pump unit's work principle and according to running character of the main parts of the unit, the holistic control scheme was brought forward to small scale ground source heat pump. Considering economy, stability and reliability and using rapidly developing micro-electronics technology, the control system aiming at ground source heat pump unit was designed and exploited by adopting embedded microcontroller system. By this controller system, automatic running of the unit can be achieved and the indoor temperature and humidity can be automatically controlled and the main components of the unit can be protected. This controller system can link to PC by serial interface and can real-timely display data of all testing point.
