Today, as environment problem attracted more and more attention, electric vehicle (EV) research project is launched out. There are mainly three types of EV: pure EV, hybrid EV and fuel cell EV. Motor propulsion system is of the same importance to all these three types of EV. It decides the dynamic performance and affects the residual range of EV.The study direction of this paper is the strategy research on the control of pure electric vehicle motor propulsion system. Induction motor propulsion system was selected as the concrete study subject. Direct torque control method is the selected timing method.The purpose of this study is to set up a control model that can give out the proper torque value to the DTC module, so that the output of the motor propulsion system can meet the driver's requirements.In the study, a mechanical model was first set up and was verified by the on road test of the new concept electric vehicle of our laboratory. Then, a control model was set up. Fuzzy control was first applied, but because of the limitation in setting up fuzzy logic rules and evaluating input variables varying range, this strategy cannot achieve ideal results. Then, a kind of error-driven variable PID control strategy was later selected. Simulations made by MATLAB programming proved that it could meet the control requirements. Simulations according to more complicated road condition was further made on the selected latter strategy and proved that it was feasible and effective.Energy feedback was also referred to in this paper.
