In conventional steel frame analysis, the behavior of beam-to column connections is treated as either pinned or rigid joints entirely. These Idealized assumptions predigest the analysis and design of steel frame consumedly, but they could induce insecurity or conservative design, because in practice engineering, to a certain extent, so-called pinned joints possess rigidity, and so-called rigid joints possess flexibility. High-strength bolted endplate connection is widely used abroad and gradually accepted in china. The dissertation focuses on the study of High-strength bolted endplate connection.Though the workable character of semi-rigid joint has been paid attention to and been a attracting subject by both domestic and foreign studier , but the most achievements derived from the study of joint s. the effect of joint flexibility on the characteristics of steel frame is unclear until now, especially when the frame working in inelastic period. How predicting the behavior of the frame with semi-rigid joints when the joints change slightly is almost blank both in china and abroad. Today, by the highly development of finite element method, more delicate comments about the behavior of the frame with semi-rigid joints could been achieved to make the design guideline according with the fact perfectly. So The dissertation completes a precise research on the behavior of the frame with High-strength bolted endplate connection by using ANSYS Program. The main work has been done is listed as follows:First, the behavior of the frame with welded joints is compared with the behavior of theframe with High-strength bolted endplate connection.Second, change the thickness of the endplate and compare the behavior of the frame with the one unchanged(Both frames with six bolted endplate connection).Third, the behavior of the frame with stiffeners used in column is compared with the behavior of the frame having no stiffeners(Both frames with six bolted endplate connection).Fourth, the behavior of the frame with six bolted endplate connection is compared with the behavior of the frame with eight bolted endplate connection.Last, give some advise for the design of the frame with High-strength bolted endplate connection.
