As be known, it is the base work for sonar designer to study beam pattern, and also make very important actions in naval tactics. Based on the designing principle of sonar array, several important targets should be discussed and analyzed in this paper. After that, we used the data from Navy Theory Center to found a data model on Transmission Losing, and calculating the distance by the sonar equation.The thesis's main contents: based on the data model of Transmission Losing, combined with sonar system and targets parameters, the theory and the arithmetic on calculating the input ratio of signal and noise, realize two dimensions distance forecast. Study the theory of beam forming on an arbitrary shape sonar array, deduct its directional functions, so as to estimate the array gain, the directional precision, and the differentiation of more targets.On the ground of all, make use of the Visual C++6.0 software in the paper, we develop out a software for sonar array directional character analyzing and the distance forecasting, it can help us to study the directional character, the differentiation of more targets and the array gain. It can analyze the Transmission Losing data of given sea area ship track. With sonar detection threshold and the other parameters, calculating the distance by the meantime, and figure out it dynamic by images or by letters, so that the tactics capabilities of the sonar device can be detected and checked in an actual work.
