The frame-supported short-leg shear wall structure is a combination of short leg shear-wall and frame-supported shear wall. According to the specialty of short-leg shear wall, the frame-supported short-leg shear wall is quite different to normal frame-supported shear wall in structural forms and load-bearing characteristics. Although it has been used widely, the theoretic research of this structure needs to be perfected. The seismic behaviors of frame-supported short-leg shear wall structure are investigated in the thesis. According to experimental achievements of two specimens of reinforced concrete structure with transfer story under cyclic loading, basic behaviors of the structure are achieved, including stress states before and after cracking, occurrence and development of cracks and the failure mode. The ductility, energy dissipation features, deterioration process of stiffness, yielding mechanism and failure phenomenon are specially studied in the test. In addition, load-transferring paths in the short-leg shear wall, transfer beam and frame-leg column are investigated. The test results proved that the seismic behavior of frame-supported short-leg shear wall structure by reasonable design is accepted. The load and displacement loop is plump, and the descent part of framework curve is smooth in the structure. It has enough ductility to reach the requirement specified in "Code for seismic design of buildings". Compared with frame-supported shear wall, the stiffness distribution of frame-supported short-leg shear wall is even better, and the problem of soft story can be avoided, and the yielding mechanism is ductile. On the basis of existing experimental results, a comparison is made between the results of nonlinear finite element analysis and the results of experiment, and a good agreement is obtained .And then, further analysis based on these models and parameters are conducted, in which some questions are discussed, including the mechanical behavior of the structure at different vertical loads and different length of short-leg wall.
