Short-limbed wall (SLW) is an intergradation of structure style between erose-section-column frame and conventional shear wall structure. This kind of structure can gain better economical benefit and excellent structural function. It is good to energy saving as well. Short-limbed wall (SLW) has become one of the most important structure forms for residence projects with 10-25 stories.Nowadays the SLW structure is widely used for its versatile advantages on architecture and structure mechanism in residence projects all over the country. But it is short of enough experimental and theoretic bases, which cumbers SLW's healthy development. Making a thorough research on capacity of SLW possesses important theoretic and engineering reference value.In this paper, a two dimensional nonlinear FEA (finite element analysis) of SLW under monotonic and cyclic reversed loading is studied so as to discover the internal force regularity distribution of SLW.Firstly, the previous works of nonlinear finite element analysis of SLW under monotonic and cyclic reversed loading is reviewed. In this paper, separate type model of nonlinear finite element is adopted. The SLW is divided into numbers of concrete elements, reinforced bar elements and bond elements in order to reflect the interaction between concrete and reinforced bar. The constitutive relation of concrete, reinforced bar, bond-slip relationship under monotonic and cyclic reversed loading is built, and triangle elements of concrete, linear element of reinforced bar dual vertical spring element and inclined struct element of bond is used. On the basis of the nonlinear finite element model, a two dimensional nonlinear finite element program of SLW is worked out (SLWNFEP) .Secondly, based on the two-dimensional nonlinear finite element program for SLW under monotonic and cyclic reversed loading , six SLW specimens are computed and analyzed and some comparison was done between results of experiment and computation. A better model of stress-strain relationship for concrete is chosen. Strength , ductility of SLW are studied. According to the analysis,the calculated and measured yielded load , limited load and hysteresis loop is shown to be in good agreement.Finally, using the nonlinear finite element program of the best model, the internal force calculations of model specimens, which are classified three groups according to different ratios of shear wall's length to thickness, ratios of axial compression, and ratios of girders 'length to width and ratios of walls' highness to width, were studied in detail and suggested the axial force, shear and moment expressions of wall and beam in order to provide valuable theoretic and experimental references for section designing in project.
