As a typical active vehicle control technology, traction control system (TCS) improves vehicle driving ability and stability by prevent driven-wheels from extreme slip to the best of its ability on low-μroad. Generally, TCS includes two components, namely, active brake control and engine torque control. The brake pressure modulator, which implements active brake, responds for driving signals from TCS control and control brake fluid flowing into or out from brake cylinder so as to modulate the brake torque on driven-wheels, consequently, excessive slip tendency is prevented. Modulating the throttle is always used to control the torque of engine. TCS ECU must communicate with the EMS in order to ask for EMS output the torque for which TCS ECU request, when the engine is an electric engine. The research on TCS including brake pressure modulator has been experienced for several decades. Since the first electric TCS was equipped on vehicle in 1985, TCS has been widely used. Nowadays, TCS has grown into the multiple function electric system from the post single function system. TCS are equipped on more and more platforms. But research on traction control technology is in commencement phase in China, which mainly focusing on the research of the controllers. This dissertation pays more attention to on how to develop the traction control system. Based on the abroad achievements in this field, we built the hardware and the software for study of the traction control system study and design the ECU prototype of TCS. Specifically, the following research has been completed. 1,The characteristic of hydraulic modulator of brake system is very important for the simulation therefore the affect of the hydraulic modulator must be studied. Based on the abroad achievements in this field, the dissertation pays more attention to the hydraulic modulator describes and build the brake system model. Comparing the result of simulation with the result of experimentation, we can get the conclusion that models of the brake system built in the dissertation are validated.
