According to the simulation theory of the model test, the actual operation parameters of the caps with inner tube and down-flow were derived from the experiments at room temperature. The results from cold model testing are proved to be authentic and provide a basis for design of caps in large scale circulating fluidized bed boiler.Based on Navier-Stokes equations and the RNG k-s model, the inner flow-field and resistance distributions of the caps and the air distributor were investigated by numerical simulation. The results provide a basis for optimization design of air distributor in large scale circulating fluidized bed boiler.The flow field and pressure distribution of air distributor in large scale circulating fluidized bed boiler are shown with CFD software FLUENT. To achieve the better fluidization in circulating fluidized bed boiler the arrangement of the holes on the caps which are located at the air distributor is stagger and the diameter of cabs which are close to the inlet of the wind-room and the walls is increased to enhance flux.
