The gypsum that is a symbol of droughty climate and occlusive environment is extensive in Neogene Red Clay. The diffluent take on its unique characteristic, and its character of dissolution can influence directly and badly the construction in the hydro engineering. The stratum under the Huangfeng Hydropower Station comprise many floors of gypsum in Neogene Red Clay, the characteristic and application of gypsum were investigated and analyzed in touch in this question in the article.Through the investigation, the existent orderliness of gypsum was studied by reconnaissance and survey in locale, and analyzed the physical and chemical quality of bedrock by means of much of experiment, furthermore gained a series of dynamical parameter by considering particularly the representative nature of the sample and selecting unflabby soft rock and intact gypsum samples. At the same time investigated the characteristic of gypsum dissolution by many terms of indoor experiment under different conditions on the base of the research of actuality of gypsum dissolution. Computed the water quantity filtered to gypsum floor after reservoir to be constructed, and forecasted the possibility of gypsum dissolution. At last, evaluated the geological engineering belonged to groundwork of the dam, and established corresponding measure to prevent.Took the means of much of experiment, the physical parameter of rock in the damsite have well consistency relative to other Hydropower Station constructed the same stratum upriver the Yellow River, so ascertained the parameter of intensity and transmutation of the rock according to the data obtained beforetime; and make a advancement in the gypsum dissolution, furthermore analyzed relation gypsum dissolution to its circumstance, Made the conclusion that took regard osmotic coefficient K=10-5cm/s as the evidence of dissolution of gypsum closed in mud-stone combined the data of the scene. Established corresponding measure to dissolution of gypsum and erodent character to the concrete in the hydro engineering.
