| Nowadays, with the arrival of Information Society and Knowledge-based Economy Era, especially the great reform of higher education, the campus construction in our nation has stepped into an unprecedented large-scale, high-speed period of development. Therefore, the researches on campus design are very significant. The thesis analyzes the practical problems in campus architecture and landscape design, compares and assays the theories and experiences, in China and elsewhere. Based on the Adaptive Theory, it constructs the concepts and methods of campus adaptive design. The thesis also explores and investigates the adaptive element system, which is sustainable and suitable for the development of the campus. The main content is divided into three parts, totally six chapters. It is demonstrated from proposing problem, analyzing problem and solving problem. The first part is Chapter One, which analyzes the importance and the existing problems in domestic campus design, puts forward "adaptive design", illustrates the imperativeness and the significance of constructing a theory of campus adaptive design, as well as the methodology and framework of the paper. The second part is analyzing problem, including Chapter Two, Three and Four. Chapter Two analyzes many factors in traditional campus renewal systematically and reconsiders the existing problems. By using the overseas campus renewal experiences for reference, it elucidates that the introduction of the adaptive design into the campus design is the key to solve the problems. Through the process of studying and distinguishing the research relevant, Chapter Three and Chapter Four all together clarify the definition of adaptive design by using the adaptation thoughts in other fields. Taking the development of higher education model and the evolution of campus spaces into account, they also make clear the object system, content, principle and working pattern of campus adaptive design, set up a comprehensive and dynamic theoretical framework. The third part is solving problem, including Chapter Five and Chapter Six. Chapter Five deeply and exhaustively studies the elements of campus adaptive design from the aspects of planning thoughts, traffic system, space system, landscape system and architecture form. Chapter Six analyzes two typical campuses in our nation with adaptive design theory, which have characteristics of adaptation and sustainability. |
