Changjiang Estuary has been the golden watercourse of Changjing River and the gate ship enter into Changjing River and is the main transportation passage of Changjiang region. Therefore the harness of Channel of Changjing Estuary has become the need of perfecting port layout, fully builting affluent society and development of transportation. The harness of Channel of Changjiang Estuary began at Jan. 1998, finished at Jan 2003, the depth of the channel of Changjiang Estuary became 8.5 meter and the width 300 meters. With the development of the economy of Changjiang region, the increasingly demand of the freight throughput, the influence of increasing ship size and movement of geology, the depth and width of Channel of Changjiang Estuary already cannot meet the economy development. Therefore how to build the Channel of Changjiang Estuary is not only a important task of transportation supervisor department and also has relation to the economy development of Shanghai and Jiangsu province. The harness of Channel of Changjiang Estuary has important effect on the builting of Shanghai International Shipping Center and the economy development of Changjiang Region. Therefore study on it has important realistic and strategic sense. This paper analyze on the hydrology and port layout, and bases on the forecast of the ship and freight volume, bring forward the construction programming, project disposal and implementing scheme of the future harness of Channel of Changjiang Estuary.
