Waterhammer problem is mostly important one of transient flow theory. It had been springing up since the last century beginning and at the mid of the last century this problem became in the ascendant. Transient theory deals with many subject, including hydromechanics, solid mechanics,electromagnetics, control theory, electronic message technology and so on. In this way, studying on transient theory, we should make mostly rational use of the subjects that have been said above and dispose of the engineering problem that rises in front of us. About this problem of waterhammer caused valve action, there are several aspects the author has studied on.Firstly, author look back about the history of the waterhammer theory and describes the equations of waterhammer and computation method;Secondly, analyzing the characteristic of the valve that fluid flows through and the dynamic property of the controlled valve;Thirdly, on the characteristics, bringing out the inverse problem of the waterhammer problem with the restricted pressed and analyzing the reasonableness of the inverse problem, this can be used for simulating the waterhammer;Fourthly, because of the flexibility of the waterhamme software of theWANDA3.3, author simulates the course of the so and so hydraulic power plant losing loads with PID controlling parameters.Finally, with the above results of simulating the hydrauli power plant, author sets forth the concepts of nomina waterhammer wave velocity and nominal waterhammer period to explaining the phenomena in the course of simulating thresults of the hydraulic power plant, Such can further better service for the power plant losing loads works.
